South Carolina: The Beach

I took so many pictures on the beach. We got up every morning with Rowan in the 6:00 hour and to keep her from waking the rest of the house, we would go down to the beach and play in the sand. It was gorgeous that early in the morning and my pictures turned out better then than later in the day with the sun overhead. A few mornings we were joined by early risers Hudson and Grandpa as well. Rowan loved the to dig in the sand and carried her pail up and down the beach. She also found sticks and would dig with them or draw lines in the sand. The water didn't frighten her, which surprised me. The waves were loud and strong at times. She was mesmerized by dropping her toys in the water and watching them float in and out with each wave. She would chase the toys out and then turn her back and run away from the wave. Salt water is apparently also delicious as she exceeded her daily salt intake for the rest of the year on this trip. We decided to police the eating of sand but we let her explore the water however she wanted. Most often it was by taste.

I loved how the bright colors of her clothes and sand toys stood out in this lighting.

Watching Grandpa Clark fish

Daddy joined us when he was done with his early work requirements.

Our set up for the day. The Clarks always build a sand creation on beach vacations. This year it was a plane.

She loved this mini beach chair that was at the house. She would crawl up in it and sit like daddy.

Signing the word for sit

Papa and Hudson one beautiful morning.

Jumping and dancing on the beach together :)

Three generations of Clarks out fishing, well actually 4 but grandpa wasn't in this shot.

Eager to hit the beach and not wanting to wait for cousins.

She loved watching bocce ball. She would chase the balls as soon as people would throw them and they played the game around her. If she altered a position of your ball then that was part of the play.

Baby footprint in the sand

She loved all the birds/seagulls/pelicans and would watch and chase them if possible.

The families corralling their kids in the big waves on the last day.

Lynley not wanting to be corralled :)
