One of our readers of the blog wanted to contribute some of his stellar photography work capturing our afternoon of disc golfing. We met up with Brian, Ingrid and Reptar for 18 holes at Rosey. I carried Rowan in the baby bjorn for the first 9 and Brian toted her around for the back 9. It was a gorgeous day and great company. Thanks for capturing these moments BC!

Cheerios!
Rowan was introduced to Cheerios for the first time this month. She woke up from a nap to find a snack cup and a new book. We sat on the couch and had some quiet time reading our book, putting cheerios on the pages and eating our new snack. She couldn't quite figure out the snack cup yet but got all excited when I put my hand in there and pulled a treat out. She was so patient as I turned the pages and placed Cheerios in the holes. Then when I was done she picked them off one by one and ate them. Sometimes the book disguised the Cheerios so well she would miss one. Then I would point it out and she would get all excited there was one left. It was a sweet little moment that I wanted to remember.

Num num num
From all these pictures it would look as though Rowan likes to eat. Lately, however, feeding times have been a stressful fight. She is really not into pureed foods much anymore. She will eat a few bites from a spoon and then push it away or cover her mouth. It is not a taste thing but more of an independence thing. That would be fine and all if she liked to eat more than puffs and fruit. We have tried cutting up veggies for her to eat and she just pushes them around for the most part. This is kinda discouraging because I know she is not opposed to the taste. Thus begins the eating healthy battles I suppose. This also ushers in the "Rachael needs to make food" stage which I have been dreading. I don't like to think of meals and cook them for Matt and I, let alone brainstorm healthy finger food meals for a 10 mo old. Blah. Our tactic now is to give her little finger foods she wants to eat, like oranges, and try to sneak in bites of veggies when she opens her mouth. Sometimes this works and she could care less what we feed her, as long as she gets to participate. Othertimes she still swats at the spoon. It has led to many messy feeds, some of which I felt like capturing pictures of.
Before the battles begin....

Classic messy baby pictures. Love that cute face.... even when it is covered in sweet potatoes.

Cousin Time
Lynley came to play at our house and we had the best day hanging out! Her mom deserved a day off to recharge and relax after a couple stressful and busy weeks. We were happy to step in and take this cute load off her hands. :) When she first got here, Rowan was sleeping. This was excellent because Lynley could have all the toys to herself to check things out.
First we hopped in the exersaucer.
Then tried out some puzzles
Then snack time out of Rowan's cool snack cup
And then cousin woke up and got tackled!
Ro got in her fair share of tackles as well
And here we are all packed up to go on adventures. Ro with her purse of treasures and Lynley with her backpack of supplies. We ventured out to the back deck and back, so thrilling! I think both girls would have liked to go further exploring but it was freezing that day.
Thanks for coming to play for the day Lynley! We had so much fun with you!

Dancing
It happens a lot in our house that music gets turned on and we have an impromptu dance party. That's just how we roll around here. This morning Rowan was all about the music and was dancing up a storm. I of course caught the tail end of it when she wasn't quite as energetic but I still got the classic bob up and down and head banging :) She is quite jealous that she can't come to the Mumford and Sons concert with Matt and I in June as she apparently loves them as well...let's be honest, who doesn't?

Just like dad
We had a weekend of nice weather so outside we went. Our lawn really needed to be cut so Matt and Rowan decided to get the job done. Ro wasn't too sure about wearing tennis shoes for the first time. She kept dragging her feet along the ground and stumbling as she learned to walk with them. She got the hang of it soon enough though and was helping push her "mower" like dad :)
Getting excited as he is coming up the side of the house! She would stop and wave everytime he reappeared from the side.
Who says you need a son to help with boy chores? Getting it done pink shoes and all!
