Cute little friends

I have decided one of my favorite parts of being a mom is playdates. I have been hanging out with my friends with kids for years. It's nice to have a kid to bring along myself and watch them all play together. I think it is good for Rowan to have some social time too and learn about sharing, taking turns, being patient and being silly with friends. I notice her just watching the bigger kids and studying their moves. I am sure she is learning a lot from them, wanting to be a big kid too. We try to get together with the boys every other week and it has been good for the kids and for the mamas :) Katie is one of my best friends and we have known each other since Jr high. I love that we get to raise our kids and tackle mommy-hood together now. Here was our latest trip to the park for a walk/picnic.

Pierce being sweet with Rowan

You know when things sounds really good in your head and then don't play out like that at all? Well that was our picnic idea with three kids under the age of 2. Unless you take success to mean running around the playground with PB & J sandwiches flopping in the wind, muffins stepped on and mashed into the blanket, drinks spilled, yelling for the last kid to come back to the blanket just to have another dart off, having them eat 20% of a meal and then forfeiting to lunch in the car on the ride home. We will look back and wonder what we were thinking? I loved it though :)

Our other playdate buddy as of late has been Declan. He is only three weeks younger than Ro so it has been fun watching them hit milestones around the same time. Him and his mommy came over to our house to play one week and then they invited us to their house and pool the next. It was Rowan's first time in a big girl pool and it was awesome.

Rowan was scared for the first 15 min or so and clung on my neck just staring at Declan splashing around. Then she warmed up and started reaching a hand out to splash a bit. Then she let me hold her away from my body and kick around. By the end I was tossing her up above the water and letting her splash down on me. Safe to say I think she likes the pool! Becca warned me that Declan liked to drink the chlorine water and Ro might do the same. Sure enough she got a taste of it and then proceeded to dip her hand into the water and slurp it off her fingers. So weird but kinda cute. Can't wait to have the kids play at our outdoor swimming pool when it opens in a couple weeks!
