Matt's Nina ended up passing the first night we arrived into town. She had been sick for many years and the last few months had been full of stress and suffering. We all thought she would pass before our trip even happened. God orchestrated that timing perfectly and we were all able to be there to celebrate her life together and be with Tina as she grieved the loss of her mother. Matt's extended family all came into town and we had the funeral towards the end of our vacation. We spent time around her house and property and it was weird knowing this was the last time we would be there. It was neat bringing Rowan out there, even though she won't remember it, it is cool to have pictures with her in all these familiar places to us. There dock and waterfront is so pretty. They frequently have dolphins that swim down it hunting for fish when the water is low. It is a pretty cool place. Rowan enjoyed exploring around and I loved how many of these pictures turned out.
Wagon rides around the neighborhood with Nana!
Playing on the back porch
Crabs by the shoreline when it was low tide
A mailbox and birdhouse in one? Two of Rowan's favs combined, mindblow.
Matt and I went on a date one of the nights we were on vacation. He planned for us to go kayaking through the channels and then out for a seafood dinner. The night was beautiful and there was no wind. It was so calm and serene among all the riverbanks. I wish I had my camera with me to take pictures of all that we saw but the risk of it getting wet was too high. We had a great time enjoying each others' company and the getting a break from being parents.
Watching the 5 min long ordeal it was for him to get out of the kayak, quite enjoyable :)
He was rowing at one point during the trip and lifted his paddle too high in the air. A big mud clump fell down from the paddle onto his shoulder. He turned around all annoyed that I flung mud on him and I had to break it to him that he did it to himself.
#1...a couple of those photos, Rowan looked BLONDE in.
ReplyDelete#2...I love that your daughter is obsessed with mailboxes. If you don't know why, it just seems so random and hilarious.
#3...I'm so amused by the troubles Matt had with kayaking.
#4...LOVE LOVE LOVE that last photo. Beautiful.
